Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Astros will receive J.A. Happ, prospect outfielder Anthony Gose and prospect shortstop Jonathan Villar in exchange for Roy Oswalt.
The deal is done, according to Rosenthal. We have heard about Happ and Gose all afternoon, but Villar is a new one. The 19-year-old shortstop is batting .272/.332/.358 with two homers, 36 RBI and 38 stolen bases with Single-A Lakewood. He was ranked as the organization's No. 22 prospect by Baseball America coming into the season. Rosenthal adds that Oswalt's $16 million option for 2012 is actually a mutual option. With the trade, the buyout will increase from $1-2 million if the Phillies pick up the option and Oswalt declines. Oswalt would receive $2 million if he opts out on his own.
