작년에 "Near-Perfect Game"을 달성했던 아르만도 갈라라가를 지명할당했답니다.
아직 타이거즈 공식홈페이지에는 뜨지 않았지만 확장이구요..

His contract reportedly includes $3 million in performance-based incentives. Penny, 32, posted a 3.23 ERA and 35/9 K/BB ratio over his first nine starts with the Cardinals last season before suffering a season-ending back injury in June. Now that Armando Galarraga has been designated for assignment, it appears that the Tigers are going to open the season with Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Rick Porcello, Phil Coke and Penny in their starting rotation.

Just one day after the two sides avoided arbitration with a one-year, $2.3 million contract. Of course, contracts to arbitration-eligible players aren't guaranteed, but the Tigers would owe him termination pay if he is ultimately released. Galarraga, 29, posted a 4.49 ERA over 144 1/3 innings last season and should draw some interest.
암만 그래도, 이럴 수는 없다고.
갈라라가가 그 게임 말고 그다지 눈에 띄지는 않았지만, 그래도 1년이나 2년 정도는 기회를 더 줘야하는 게 아니었나.
에휴... 팬심은 굴러온 돌이 박힌 돌 빼낼 수는 없는 법이거늘.

Gil Meche has announced his retirement from the game of baseball.
A major surprise, given that his salary this season would have been a whopping $12 million. The 32-year-old Meche did not give an exact reason for his sudden retirement, but it might have something to do with his chronic shoulder problems. He made only nine starts last season and tallied only 61 2/3 innings of work while posting an ugly 5.67 ERA and 1.67 WHIP.
