Red Sox acquired RHP Rich Harden from the Athletics for 1B Lars Anderson and a PTBNL.
Harden, 29, has posted a 1.16 WHIP and 30/10 K/BB ratio in 29 1/3 innings since returning from the disabled list in early July. He brings quality depth to the Boston rotation and should remain a releavnt contributor in mixed fantasy leagues. Anderson, 23, has a career .809 OPS in the minor leagues but wasn't necessarily a top talent.
Rangers acquired RHP Koji Uehara from the Orioles in exchange for RHP Tommy Hunter and 1B Chris Davis.
We love Uehara as a setup man for Rangers closer Neftali Feliz -- and as an insurance policy if the young closer struggles for an extended period -- but wonder if Texas didn't part with a bit too much to make it happen. Uehara, 36, posted a sparkling 1.72 ERA and 0.70 WHIP in 47 innings as a setup man for Baltimore this season. He has a career 3.03 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over 157 2/3 innings. The O's will cover $2 million of his remaining salary.
Pirates acquired 1B Derrek Lee from the Orioles for 1B Aaron Baker.
A nice addition for the Bucs, who have not been getting consistent production this season from the first base position. Lee is currently hitting just .248/.306/.409, but he's been on a tear since the All-Star break and is still one of the top defensive first basemen in the league. He should do well for third-place Pittsburgh.

Phillies acquired OF Hunter Pence and cash considerations from the Astros for 1B-OF Jonathan Singleton, RHPs Jarred Cosart and Josh Zeid and a player to be named later.
The Phillies bought high here and paid a heavy price in doing so, but they finally have the right-handed bat they have long-coveted. Pence is batting .309/.356/.471 with 11 homers, 62 RBI, seven stolen bases and an .828 OPS this season. He should see a decent boost in counting stats now that he'll be batting fifth in a much better lineup. The 28-year-old outfielder is making $6.25 million this season and remains under team control through 2013. The major fallout here for the Phillies is that Domonic Brown and Raul Ibanez will likely share playing time in left field moving forward.

Boston was moments away from dealing first base prospect Lars Anderson and a player to be named later to the A's on Saturday evening, but something stalled the talks. The Red Sox can try again before Sunday's 4 p.m. trade deadline.
